Scripture Union has a long history (dating back to 1892) of using camping as an evangelistic and discipleship tool in ministry. It has proved very successful in growing and developing leaders, and many of the Movements have been involved in pioneering creative ways of bringing the Bible to life through residential events.

The variety of sites and styles is enormous throughout the world, with camping currently being undertaken in 75 countries. The locations vary from desert tented camps to purpose built properties owned and maintained by Scripture Union Movements. Most recently permanent sites have been developed in Mongolia, Croatia, Ukraine and Honduras.

At the heart of a camping experience is a mix of Christian teaching, activities and community fellowship. This unique combination helps people of all ages to see Christianity being lived out 24 hours a day. Camps are fun experiences! Many will testify to the fact that camp was the first time that they really understood the Christian Faith and made it personal.

The range of activities on these events throughout the world is wide and varied - from white water rafting in Australia to Bible experience camps in Latvia, from motorbike riding in England to desert exploration in Namibia.
